What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?

I’ve always been an athlete I decided I wanted to be a football player junior year of high school. A combination of life events, different opportunity and wanting more brought me to the sport. I soon learned I love pressured moments, controlled chaos and the big lights.

What are your favorite moments from your football life?

My favorite moments are during my Juco years. The combination of grind and humbling moments that comes with junior college is really special. I showed myself I’m resilient, all around tough, and dedicated to my journey. The bond and memories built with my team at the time will always be apart of who I am. The Juco experience touched all of us differently. I’m glad I went juco and experienced the “JUCO GRIND”.

What are you looking to achieve as a football player going forward?

I believe I’m talented enough to pursue any path athletically. As an athlete there are goals I would like to achieve such as, playing professionally, winning a championship, building my name and a brand, opening my own sportsplex, and taking advantage of all opportunities that can better me, my career and family.

If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?

Deion “PrimeTime” Sanders. I would like to hang out with him to understand his drive and determination when it come to success. His preparation, mindset and execution. Evaluate his infectious energy.

Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?

My mother is my inspiration, as a single mother of 2 boys she took it upon herself not to fail herself or us in anyway. Pushing me academically, athletically and socially to become the man I am today. I dedicate every game to God and my mother. Without them I will not be here today.

What is your favorite defensive scheme and why?

4-2-5. As a DB who can play multiple positions on the field, I love this scheme.

What should we know about Shaq Floyd the person?

I believe people would say I’m driven and motivated. I have a huge heart on and off the field. I’m a friendly person but can stay to myself at times. I love music and caribbean food. Football has truly changed my life, taken me places I’ve never thought I’ll see, meeting people who will become lifelong friends and giving me a chance to play the game that I love.

What stands out about your film the most?

I think my versatility stands out most in my film. Playing all DB positions and outside LB versus the top teams in the country.

How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?

I’m not an emotional person so I choose to evaluate the situation best I can instead of always just reacting. Because sometime, someone else my be the best tool for the job.

What would a team get in a player like you?

A great teammate. I truly love football, the atmosphere, grind and determination is what molded me. I love to win, whether in making the game winning tackle or supporting from the sidelines. As real football players we know the real grind, the practices, PT and film study. We have to win everyday as a team. I want to be there getting better and making my teammates better.

What do you love the most about the game of football?

The underrated mental aspects of the game. I’ve learned to live the preparation stages in life. Film, working out and working on technique and scheme are keys to consistent on the field. And of course being able to punish my opponents.

Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?

My former LB Bosse from DU. I say that because he is about 6’1 230 probably bigger, runs a 4.4 and is built like someone out of an action movie. He suffered a few injuries while at DU that sidelined him. When he played we can feel the difference on the field. He was our captain and really helped sail the DU boat to 8-2 only losing to GVSU and FSU.
