Player Summary:

A fourth-year junior enrolled at Arizona in 2019. Scrappy, sturdy build with a well-built upper body and well sculpted, long arms. Thick and defined athletically framed legs. Aligns and starts primarily at boundary CB (678 snaps in 2022), but has seen snaps in the box (83), slot (57), and free safety (27). Bouncy, high motor athlete with adequate long speed. Uses long limbs as a disruptive tool in passing situations, made several athletic, extra-effort plays on the football. Tracks his assignments well, displaying decent play recognition and average eyes for the backfield. Plays the boundary well, does a good job containing receivers to a small area. Can get sticky hips in coverage transitions. Acceptable coverage in short zones, sticks to the hip and keeps a fluid base. Positioned consistently in the box or at FS for run support, fills the gap well. Can be swallowed or pushed around in blocks. Instinctive in run defense, takes good angles on the ball carrier’s path. Effective open-field tackler. Blitzes off the edge well, able to quickly recognize a play in the backfield. Can get too excited and overcommit. Can be too aggressive and loses balance.

Scheme Fit

Fits in as an early down boundary corner, schematically versatile, best in man

Power Statement

Scrappy, experienced defender with professional physical features and a high motor. Does an above-average job in passing situations, particularly short zone situations, but must become a more physical player to make the all-around impact in which he’s capable of.
