Talk about your experience as a student. What is your major/minor? Did you participate in any other activities or campus organizations other than football?
I began my college days at Grambling State where I obtained my Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Technology with a Concentration in Drafting and Design. I was also a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity at Grambling State. I transferred to West Florida in the early part of 2021. I am currently working on a Bachelor’s in Communication.

What do you think your teammates would say is your best quality?
I’m a positive player in all circumstances, bringing good energy. I’m a mood setter who helps pick others up.

What kind of role do you see yourself in on the team? What scheme and/or position suits your skill set?
I’m one of the senior leaders on our team. I’m an enforcer on the OL with good versatility. I’ve played multiple positions over the years. Most of my experience has been at LG although I played at RT in 2019. We run a lot of RPO, and I take pride in my ability to be an effective run blocker. I can also be a reliable pass blocker on the interior.

Who is the best player you have ever played against in college?
In high school, I played against Damion Daniels who currently plays for the Texans. One of the guys that I remember playing against during my early days in college was Zi’Yon Hill-Green at Louisiana-Lafayette. He was a great pass rusher who moved downhill really fast. His speed to power was really good. Since being at West Florida, I’ve played against some good talent. Delta State has a solid defense with some quality LBs that we need to keep tabs on.

Which one of your teammates impresses you the most?
Jacob Bruce plays next to me at LT. He’s a hard worker that never gives up. Zac Elam is another dedicated worker on the OL. He comes to work every day and dominates his reps. On defense, we have a strong, young NT in Pooda Walker who shuts down the run very well.

Describe a time in your life when you were able to overcome a struggle.
2020 was a rough year. Not only did the pandemic change a lot of things, but I also lost 3 family members in my grandma, brother and cousin. A lot was going on that year with me graduating from Grambling State. Yet, with those losses in my life, I considered moving on from football and using my degree to start a career. Although, it was during that time that I found out how much I love football. I used it as a coping mechanism to get through some of my grief. I remained positive on and off the field, putting a smile on my family’s faces and enjoying my opportunity to play football.

If you didn’t play football, what other sport would you play?
Wrestling. I didn’t wrestle too much in high school, only participating my junior year. But I was the newcomer of the year, and could have done more with it if I stuck with it.

What is something that you are most proud of? What would you say is your biggest achievement so far?
I’m very proud of graduating college, that also being my biggest personal achievement. I was part of a state championship in Texas as well as winning conference championships at both Grambling State and West Florida.

Describe one of the most memorable plays of your collegiate career.
My very first game in college is something that I’ll always remember. Stepping into the stadium at Tulane, I just had that feeling that all of my dreams of being a college football player were coming to fruition.

One of my favorite plays happened in our conference championship game when I was at Grambling State. Playing RG, I pulled left on a power play and delivered one of my favorite pancake blocks.

Do you have a favorite athlete or professional team? Is there a player that you model your game after?
When I was very young, I decided to cheer for the Ravens and have been a fan ever since. A player that I really admire is Jason Peters. His longevity really sets him apart. That’s something that I really want to strive for.

Who is your favorite music artist? What gets you pumped before a game?
Rod Wave is my favorite music artist. I also like to listen to my sister who is an R&B artist that goes by the name Blue Nile.

What is your favorite comfort food?
My family is from Sudan, and I love my mom’s cooking. One of my favorites is her addas which is red lentil soup. I also really like gourrassa.

Do you have a favorite movie, TV show or actor?
One of my favorite TV shows is Stranger Things. I enjoy all the Marvel movies.

What do you do in your spare time? Do you have any hobbies? Any secret talents?
I like to read a lot whether that be psychology, philosophy or self-help books. I’m also learning to play the ukulele.

Why do you play football? Who or what motivates you the most?
I play football for the pure enjoyment of the game. My father is the one who motivates me the most, giving me the opportunity to play football. He showed great courage leaving Sudan during their civil war. Coming to the United States, I was given the opportunity to have a great education and play football. I’m also motivated by my sister. She currently plays basketball at Louisiana Tech. Seeing her pursue her dreams brings me joy.
