What sets you apart from other defensive backs?

My ability to move inside and play nickel is what I think separates me from other DBs. Not a lot of DBs can move inside and play NI effectively.

What do you think are the keys to success on the football field?

Film study, preparation, and confidence!

How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?

By staying the same person no matter what happens. Challenges are going to come your way no matter what, it’s part of the game and life. Just have to keep being you and that’s on the field and in life. Especially on the field, as a DB you have to be able to keep being you and being confident even when the play doesn’t go your way.

What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?

I don’t think anything made me decide. That’s why I know I was born to play football. I’ve always wanted to play football, I had my mind made up from the time I was able to speak. Maybe it was the fun I had just running around as kid, but honestly it was just natural and who I always wanted to be.

If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?

Darrelle Revis just so I can pick his brain. He was such a technician, and arguably the best CB to play the game.

What should we know about Faion Hicks the person?

Overall just a cool guy who loves to play chess, video games and have fun with my dog. Outside of football I make it a priority to relax and take care of my mental and enjoy life.

What are your favorite moments from your football life?

My first game starting in Camp Randall is by far my favorite. First game and I got my first interception. Then it would be winning states my junior year in high school.

What type of energy do you bring onto the football field?

Cool, calm, and confident type of energy. I try not to get too hype, that’s never been me. I like to let my play speak for itself. When you making plays that’s what gets your teammates and the crowd going, that’s the energy I try to create on a football field, and at some point it becomes contagious amongst the team and that’s how you win games.

What is your favorite coverage and why?

Man coverage, as a DB there’s nothing like having one assignment and that’s to lock on into the man in front of you and dominate.

What would a team get in a player like you?

A dawg, leader, and someone who’s going to give their all at all times no matter what.

How are you planning to prepare for the draft?

Will be preparing for pro day at a facility in Florida called Per4orm, who does a great job at training guys during the pre draft process.

What are you looking to achieve as a football player going forward?

To dominate at the highest level of football for 10 plus years. That’s the goal, I don’t want to be known as someone who just got a chance to play in NFL but be known as someone who got a chance and dominated for a long period of time.
