The Nevada Wolfpack offers one of the premium quarterback options of the 2022 NFL Draft, Carson Strong. Strong is a big boy coming in at 6’4” 216 lbs and good arm talent, if you’re wanting your team to pick up a new QB this may be your guy to root for.

Strong’s work from the pocket is good and delivers accurate balls from drags and swings to deep go’s. This kid can make all the throws. The anticipation Strong throws with, hitting his receivers right out of their break, is next level. That, combined with his good ball placement and a release smoother than butter makes him lethal and someone worth looking at.

Looking off defenders and leaving them stuck in the mud is another one of Strong’s strong traits. He uses his eyes and his anticipation to throw his guys open and progresses through his reads well and has had many many reps to get this down well in Nevada’s offense throwing usually 40+ times in a game.

While I’ve said absolutely glowing things about Strong, there are some problems…even Superman has his weaknesses, right? Now, playing at Nevada he hasn’t really dealt with an extremely high level of competition, so that is a red flag but he’s got the right traits that makes him valuable.

Is Strong mobile? To put it simply, no. He’s an average runner, but the upside of that, mobile QBs are still unproven commodities in the NFL when it comes to winning the Superbowl. The ability to be elite from the pocket is what really matters. Strong also has a propensity to get himself into trouble while moving out of the pocket, so his pocket awareness and movement need development. All in all, I believe Strong will be a solid starter in the NFL and will cost a late first-rounder or early second.
