What do you think are the keys to success on the football field?

I think the most important thing is just to have that want to. The want to, to be better than you were the day before, and to have the discipline to do the little things. Also, you have to have mental toughness. It all comes down to how hard you work, and how bad you want it.

If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?

I would like to hang out with Ndamukong Suh, he was the first player that I kind of modeled my game after. 

What is your typical training routine?

My typical off season training routine consists of film study, the weight room, and defensive line specific drills, as well as conditioning. All of these are very important to being a successful football player.

What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?

I started playing football when I was ten, I was always a chubby kid so I got enrolled into a pop warner league, I played one year of pop warner, from there I fell in love with the game and it gave me a sense of accomplishment. 

What type of energy do you bring onto the football field?

I am a happy, and optimistic person, I believe that I have to have fun in order to play my best so I just have fun with my teammates, and try to enjoy the moments of just being with them. 

What sets you apart from other defensive linemen?

What sets me apart is the fact that I’m 6’3, and 310 pounds and I can run sideline to sideline as if I were a defensive end or, linebacker. 

How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?

I believe that everyone has challenges to overcome that ultimately make them who they are meant to be. I like to take it one day, and one step at a time. You can only control what you can control, and not what happens to you in life on or off the football field. 

What should we know about Tyran Dixon the person?

You should know that I’m a guy with high integrity, great morals, and I am the type of person that wants to help any and everybody succeed. I would say that I’m am very easy going, and I love to meet new people, I would talk to anyone, just to see how their day is going. I’m that type of guy. 

What are your favorite moments from your football life?

My favorite moments by far are, making all conference first team, and winning the conference championships twice in my college career. I would also say all the moments I made with my teammates I really enjoyed them. 

What would a team get in a player like you?

You would get a hard worker, that is ready to learn, and soak in any information that could help me become a better player for my team. 

What do you love about the game of football?

I love all of the connections you make while being in a team, I believe that these guys that you meet while being in a team will be people that will be there with you for life. I also love all of the life lessons you learn while playing this sport, it can teach you a lot about you as a person. 

What are your favorite things about playing football for Newberry?

I love the family atmosphere. That was by far the biggest difference that this college had for me while I was here.
