Zach Ertz traded to Arizona Cardinals in exchange for former UCF standout Tay Gowan and a 5th round pick

Zach Ertz traded for Tay Gowan
Who is Tay Gowan? He is a lot better than you expect. The young defensive back is pretty damn good

The Arizona Cardinals are 5-0 and they are getting a star tight end. Ian Rapoport is announcing the Cardinals are sending Tay Gowan a former UCF football player to the Philadelphia Eagles and a 5th round pick in 2022 for the former All-Pro Tight End.

This is a huge trade for the Cardinals. Tay Gowan is an under the radar draft pick. We broke down more on the former UCF standout earlier this year on our site.

In 2019, Gowan allowed a 26.2 passer rating in single coverage. This was good enough for 2nd-best in all of college football. Gowan may have slipped through the cracks after opting out of the 2020 season. I think the Eagles are getting a great player.

In his lone season at UCF in 2019, Gowan showcased his physical abilities at the CB position. Gowan has the size and physicality to interrupt receivers’ routes off the line and make every play a physical one. Gowan opted out of the 2020 NCAA season due to concerns around COVID-19, but his play in 2019 was good enough for the Cardinals to draft him!
