16-Year-Old Nebraska High School Football player Drake Geiger collapsed and died during practice
Drake Geiger was a junior at Omaha South High School in Nebraska. He was at practice on Tuesday when he collapsed and was rushed to the hospital. Unfortunately, Geiger did not make it, he died at the hospital he was just 16 years old.
This was only the second day of football practice for the team. The heat index was 106 the day of Geiger’s death.
He missed the first day of practice because the Doctors didn’t sign his physical paperwork. So this was his first practice with the team.
According to Channel 3 News, Drake’s father said the coach called him around 4:20 to tell him Drake was rushed to the hospital after 10 minutes of practice.
Doctor’s tried to revive Geiger for over an hour and a half but could not do it. The Doctor’s told Geiger’s Dad his body was so overheated the situation was not good.
A GoFundMe account was set up to assist with expenses.
The school says counselors would be available at the school.
