An innocent Mother dropping off her son at the Naval Academy was shot and killed in a drive by shooting

Michelle Cummings was taking her son to the Naval Academy after his achievements on the football field landed him an opportunity to play football for Navy.

What was supposed to be an exciting journey ended up in a tragic news story.

Cummings was killed in a drive-by shooting at her hotel during the trip.

According to police, Cummings was sitting in the patio area of her hotel when shots rang out. Investigators said the shots “travelled a distance” when they hit Cummings.

Her son was a standout football player for Westfield High School in Houston and committed to play at the Naval Academy.

GoFundMe account has been set up to help the Cummings family.

The incident remains under investigation.
