Finland’s Helsinki Wolverines sign QB Jordan Williams

Former Central Methodist quarterback Jordan Williams was signed by the Helsinki Wolverines of the FML.

The Helsinki Wolverines, who play in Finland’s Maple League, have signed their quarterback for the remainder of the 2021 season, Jordan Williams from Central Methodist University (NAIA). Williams also spent time with Jackson State University. The Wolverines currently are 1-3 in the 2021 season.

The Memphis, Tennessee native currently holds the record for longest pass in Central Methodist University history. While commanding the Eagles offense, Williams connected with his receiver for a 92 yard touchdown against Benedictine on October 26, 2019. While with the Eagles he completed over 60% of his passes for over 2,000 passing yards.

The Wolverines had been using converted receiver Cedric Johnson as their starting quarterback for the season. Johnson is no longer with the team. The team thanked Johnson for his time and left on good terms.

Williams joins a team with starters Breon Allen, Curtis Slater, and Dejion Lynch.

When asked about what he was looking forward the most to while signing with the Wolverines, Williams said

“Well the Wolverines went to the Maple Bowl last season and came up a little short. I honestly think the only goal is to take it all this year. I’m just happy I get to be a part of that.” Williams also added that he’s eager to join and play with his new teammates.

“Yes sir, Lynch as well as Slater and Allen are ballers for sure. As well as a lot of other guys on the squad. The goal to help this season is to come provide a spark and gel with the other guys as quick as possible and do my part for us to get back to where we know we belong.”

The Wolverines will take on defending Maple League Champions, the Kuopio Steelers on Saturday July 17, 2021. You can watch the game for free on AFI.tv provided by American Football International. Kickoff is set for 9:30 am CT.
