Utah High School football star one of three people arrested for brutally beating a man with wooden blocks and a pole to death

Xandre Sky Daniel Hill, who turned 18 this month, and Osyeanna Marie Martinez, 19, each face one count of murder, a first-degree felony, in the death of Fred Valdamar Ortiz, 41, of Magna.

Hill had a huge opportunity ahead of him. He recently received a scholarship offer to play football at Texas Wesleyan University.

There were a group of people involved, but due to their young ages, they could not be named. A third man named Easton Jorge Esparsa was arrested today in regards to the death of Fred Ortiz.

According to the police report, a female went to the house looking to purchase a puppy, but when they got there they were told that Ortiz had beaten his pregnant girlfriend.

The men began to chase Ortiz, and he was doing everything to get away. The report even says that the men listed above as well as others threw pieces of wood, struck him as well as his car with a metal pole.

Police say the entire attack was recorded on surveillance video.

Osyeanna was seen hitting Ortiz with the wood, she then grabbed Ortiz and began hitting him. The video shows Hill, Martinez and the third person beating Ortiz.

In interviews on Monday night, police said one of Ortiz’s family members disclosed that he had beaten his girlfriend two days before his death,’ KUTV reported.

‘[The family] have been scared to report it because [Ortiz] is on parole and his probation officer will not do anything to lock him up,’ the arrest report says, according to the station.

Hill played football for Hunter High School and racked up 504 yards receiving and 4 touchdowns on 42 receptions. Hill recently received an offer from Texas Wesleyan University. This is a huge blow.
