2022 NFL Draft Prospect: Zaire Mitchell, TE, Florida Atlantic University

There is a new tight end in town for Florida Atlantic and if they know anything about football they are going to feed him the ball. The former Notre Dame College tight end recently announced his transfer to FAU and let me tell you he is player you better remember. I wanted to talk about another small schooler because this kid is one of the most athletic players I have ever watched on film.

Notre Dame College is a small school and I am not sure how they hid Mitchell for as long as they did. The Rockville, Maryland native had a monster season in 2019 hauling in 53 receptions for 573 yards and scoring six touchdowns. This past year, Mitchell had 14 receptions for 182 yards in just five games. He had another year of eligibilty because of COVID-19 and decided to enter the transfer portal.

Mitchell would select FAU, and the rest is history. FAU currently has Willie Taggert Jr. and N’Kosi Perry at quarterback so we know both of them can distribute the ball. Mitchell is a huge kid, the Notre Dame website had him at 6’8 for quite some time, but he is a 6’5 and 250 pounds. He has true NFL size for the position.

FAU needs to feed Mitchell the ball, If they do they are going to love how he produces. Do not look at the level of competition he played at Notre Dame College, he is a gamer, and I think any team would love to have him.

NFL Draft Diamonds Scouting Notes:

Zaire Mitchell is one of the most complete tight ends in the NFL Draft. He is a much better pass catcher than blocker, but he can get it done if needed. I love this kids athletic ability and size. You do not find many small schoolers built like him. Especially, guys that have production with the size.
