Breaking: Former Coastal Carolina DT Sterling Johnson will attend Steelers mini camp

Former Coastal Carolina defensive tackle Sterling Johnson has been invited to the Steelers mini camp.

We are learning that Sterling Johnson the massive defensive tackle formerly of Coastal Carolina has been invited to the Steelers mini camp this week.

In 2019, Johnson was named to the All-Sun Belt third team and earned a spot on Phil Steele’s Sun Belt Conference All-Conference third team following his final collegiate season.

He embraced his new role as the nose tackle in the Chanticleers’ new 3-4 defensive scheme in 2019 and boy did he shine. The 6-4, 285-pound lineman totaled 41 tackles, 10.0 tackles-for-loss, and 3.5 sacks in 11 games on the season. Johnson’s 10.0 tackles-for-loss were tied for ninth overall in the Sun Belt, while his 3.5 sacks on the year ranked 19th overall in the league.

The Steelers love big defensive lineman, and could use Sterling! It would be great to see him ink a contract!
