2022 NFL Draft Prospect: Malik Willis, QB, Liberty University

Malik Willis Liberty Former Auburn QB
The 2022 NFL Draft has a new top quarterback in town? Yes, Malik Willis the Liberty gunslinger should be considered a top quarterback in the draft.

Every year there is one quarterback prospect that comes out of now where and explodes on the scene. Everyone is going to say it was Trey Lance this year, but I disagree, that player this year was Zach Wilson. No one was really talking about Zach Wilson as a top prospect and boom the kid is going 2nd overall.

Malik Willis from Liberty is a player that will have a similar route to the NFL. I was talking to an NFL scout the other day who said you better start the Malik Willis Bandwagon because the kid has a first round grade.

Malik Willis has a cannon folks, he makes great decisions, and knows when to run and throw the ball. That is what you are looking for in a franchise quarterback. Willis has made some ridiculous throws in his collegiate career, and in his first season with the Flames he took the conference over by storm.

Willis completed 64.2 percent of his passes for 2,250 yards and had 20 passing touchdowns to just 6 interceptions. The wild thing is Willis also ran for 944 yards and scored 14 touchdowns with his legs. Willis is playing in a Hugh Freeze offense, and he is playing lights out.

Willis transferred from Auburn, where he was not given a real shot. He played in 15 games throughout his Auburn career, and was 11-14 for 69 yards and just one touchdown. You would have thought Auburn could have used him better now that you see what you have in him at Liberty!

The Atlanta, Georgia native may not be the biggest quarterback but he is one of the best in this draft class!

NFL Draft Diamonds Scouting Notes:

Malik Willis has some Michael Vick in him. Yes, the kid has a cannon, has escape skills and can make some insane throws. NFL teams are high on this kid now, and I do not think the love is going to just disappear. I think Willis is going to have an even bigger season in 2021, and I would not be shocked if he is a top three quarterback after the season. It is wild to think a small schooler from Liberty could be a first rounder but shoot this is becoming a trend! – Damond Talbot, NFL Draft Diamonds, Owner
