Draft Diamonds Free Agent Interview: Isiah Scott, Wide Receiver

Isiah Scott NFL Free Agent
Free Agent wide receiver Isiah Scott recently sat down with Justin Berendzen of NFL Draft Diamonds.

Hello, I am @jrberendzen on Twitter and this is one of my free agent interviews where I ask very deserving free agents questions about the players themselves and about what a team would get in these players. All of these players should get picked up by NFL, CFL,  and XFL teams and get a shot at being a career football player. So I hope you all read this interview and follow Isiah’s journey on Twitter @Only1Zay_Scott

1.What do you think is the key to success on the football field?

Knowing the playbook is the main thing. But executing as a team. It’s going to be ups and downs in a game. Keeping a strong mind and staying together as a team will bring success. Play as one.

2.What is your favorite workout?

I would have to say upper body bench press/ over head push press.

3.What has been your biggest challenge in life?

Quitting school and football in 2018. I was at my lowest. Didn’t know what the next step might be. Was working job to job praying I got back in school and on a team. Keeping that motivation after sitting out a whole year was everything but easy.

4.If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?

Calvin Johnson, I feel like we kind of play the same. I would just try to get some tips on improving my game from a goat.

5.What is your favorite stadium that you’ve played in?

WVU Stadium/ Pittsburgh Steelers field

6.What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?

The moment I seen my sister put a helmet and pads on. Seen her running through dudes. At one point she was the best football player in the house. She was fearless. If my sister could do it I knew I could.

7.What are your favorite moments from your football life?

I caught about 6 or 7 game winners playing for West Virginia State. Can’t even put it into words how special those moments were. Knowing the team was counting on me and coming through when they called my number.

8.What would a team get in a player like you?

Touchdowns. More importantly a team player and a brother. Someone who can contribute to the team. No matter where u place me on the field. Someone they can hold accountable!

9.What is your mindset when you are on the football field?

Make plays. Execute. Play as a team.

10.Rank focus, footwork and skill based on what is most important to you as a football player and explain why?

As a wide out It’s focus, footwork, skill. Focus because with playing a sport you’ll get a lot of attention. You’re gonna have to block out all the distractions. Footwork and skill could either be second or third. If you have footwork that’s a good start as a WR then you can add your footwork in your finesse game which is your routes aka skill.

11.What type of energy do you bring onto the football field?

I have good energy I’m a team guy. I want a win at the end of the day! Nothing less.

12.What do you hope to achieve as a football player going forward?

I never got to win a championship coming up. Always got there and came up short. I want a Super Bowl when it’s all said and done.
