2021 NFL Draft Prospect: Javonte Williams, RB, University of North Carolina

UNC running back Javonte Williams will be one of the toughest and hardest running RB’s in the 2021 NFL Draft if he declares.

North Carolina running back Javonte Williams is one of the hardest players in college football to bring down. The 220 pound running back from Wallace, North Carolina is country strong.

When you watch him play, he has some speed to go along with grit. He is so hard to bring down, and picks up so many yards after the catch. Williams is utilized in the passing game quite a bit and when he runs you better move out the way.

Williams is not afraid to lower his head, and truck a defender. He runs hard like Zach Moss, but I think he is a better pass catcher than Moss.

The junior has a tough decision to make this year, one whether or not to leave school early for the NFL, but I can assure you NFL teams will select him.

In his career at UNC, he has played in 33 games. He has 340 rushing attempts and has rumbled for 2053 yards averaging 6 yards a carry. He has 25 total touchdowns and this year is already at 15 in just 9 games.

If you look at his receiving skills he is solid as well. He has hauled in 45 receptions for 491 yards and scored four times through the air. That is pretty impressive and he is being used more out the backfield in 2020.

NFL Draft Diamonds Scouting Notes

If you are looking for a bruising back, Javonte Williams from UNC is your kid. He runs the ball hard every time he touches it. He has a little Beast Mode in him. He can slither away from defenders and has great hands for a running back. He is not the fastest back, but he has the ability to break a long play. I see him as a top 100 pick right now in the NFL Draft. – Damond Talbot, Owner, NFL Draft Diamonds
