Jaelon Darden Scouting Report | 2021 NFL Draft | North Texas WR

Jaelon Darden North Texas
North Texas WR Jaelon Darden has been playing big boy football. The Houston native has been one of the best FBS wide receivers in 2020.
  • Name: Jaelon Darden
  • School: North Texas
  • Position: Wide Receiver
  • Height: 5’9
  • Weight: 174

2020 Statistics (8 games): 66 Receptions, 1,017 Yards, 15.4 YPC and 15 Touchdowns

When looking into Jaelon Dardens’ playing ability he shows a great explosive threat when the ball is in his hands. His downfield playmaking makes him a significant deep threat the way he can track the ball in the air.

He easily could take it to the end zone on any given play. Getting the ball into his hands is key for any team that gives him a chance at the next level. His balance helps him bounce off of defenders while being one of the smallest on the field.

Jaelon is a natural hands catcher with a radius that is significantly big especially at his size. His speed is another dangerous threat that he has and when it combines with his ability to make a man miss consistently he easily becomes a huge X factor in the passing game.

His route running is extraordinary in his ability to make separation because he knows how to attack defensive backs’ leverage to open them up one way just to go the opposite direction.

Jaelon also has the ability to step on the field as a punt returner which would suit him nicely because of his speed and his ability to make people miss, making him a suitable asset in the return game to set up great field position for what ever team takes a chance on him.

His size is something he could work on when it comes to his weight to help give himself an opportunity to become a better blocker when going up against players that are bigger than him.
