2021 NFL Draft Prospect Interview: Shannon Patrick , QB, Arkansas-Pine Bluff

Shannon Patrick was a gunslinger at Arkansas Pine Bluff who is currently in the transfer portal. He recently sat down with NFL Draft Diamonds writer Jimmy Williams.

Talk about your experience as a student. What is your major/minor? Did you participate in any other activities or campus organizations other than football?
I received a Bachelors of Science in Health and Physical Education. And I read books to the kids at an Elementary School in Pine Bluff with my teammates.

What do your teammates say is your best quality?
That I can relate well with my teammates, and my ability to throw the football.

What kind of role do you see yourself in on the team? What scheme and/or position suits your skill set?
Quarterback definitely suits my skill set, and I see myself in the role that is best to help my team win.

Who is the best player you have ever played against in college?
I’ve played against so many great players it’s hard to choose one.

Which one of your teammates impresses you the most?
I’d have to say the players that have impressed me the most from my former teams would have to be Josh Wilkes, Harry Ballard, and Malik Williams.

Describe a time in your life when you were able to overcome a struggle.
Taking the Junior College route was a struggle. I’m really glad that I was able to make it out of Junior College and get to play at a Division 1 School on Full Scholarship.

If you didn’t play football, what other sport would you play?
I would say baseball. I used to be a pitcher.

What is something that you are most proud of? What would you say is your biggest achievement?
I’m most proud of what I have been able to accomplish with my past teams. My Senior Year in 2015 at 8A Wellington High School we won the District Championship for the first time in History and I was top in Florida in Passing with 3,438 Yards and 52 Total TDs.

In Junior College in 2017 at Northland Community & Technical College we won the Conference Championship for the first time in History, and I finished as the NJCAA National Leading Passer with 4,506 Yards and 43 TDs.

In 2019 at UAPB I helped lead my team to their first winning season since 2012, and in 13 Games Played at UAPB I was able to accumulate 2,928 Passing Yards and 27 Total TDs.

Describe one of the most memorable plays of your collegiate career.
With UAPB, we were playing Tennessee State University and we were tied at 31 with 50 seconds left, and we drove 75 yards and I threw the Game Winning TD as time expired. One of the Greatest Moments that I’ve had in Football.

Do you have a favorite athlete or professional team? Is there a player that you model your game after?
My favorite team is the Miami Dolphins, and I try to model my game after Aaron Rodgers. I like the way he plays the game.

Who is your favorite music artist? What gets you pumped before a game?
I don’t have a favorite artist, but I like Country Music and some Hip Hop, but the game gets me pumped for the game, not necessarily any music. 

What is your favorite comfort food?
Chicken Wings with Bleu Cheese.

Do you have a favorite movie, TV show or actor?
My favorite movie is The Replacements. My favorite actors are Adam Sandler, and Mark Wahlberg. 

What do you do in your spare time? Do you have any hobbies? Any secret talents?
I enjoy hunting and fishing in my spare time.

Who or what motivates you the most?
My family and my goals motivate me the most!
