2021 NFL Draft Prospect: Ian Book, QB, Notre Dame

Ian Book Notre Dame Draft Breakdown
Notre Dame quarterback Ian Book can kill you with his legs or his arm. Pick your poison when playing the Fighting Irish.

Notre Dame quarterback Ian Book is playing lights out in 2020. He has been one of the most impressive quarterbacks in the 2021 NFL Draft. He recently accepted his invite to the Reese’s Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama. I think this was a huge decision for Book and one that can definitely help out his stock.

Book has Notre Dame playing lights out, and they had a huge win over Clemson this year already. Book looked like he had ice in his veins against the Clemson Tigers minus Trevor Lawrence.

Book has some amazing features, but his biggest knock is his height. The 6000 gunslinger is not the average size of a quarterback in the NFL, but players like Baker Mayfield, Russell Wilson, Kyler Murray and Drew Brees would probably tell the critics to stop harassing Book.

Many quarterbacks have had success in the NFL regardless of size, and Book is a player I think that will shine this year. He started all 13 games last year as a started, and finished the year with 3,034 yards and 34 touchdown passes to just six interceptions.

This year, his stats have went down a bit, he has thrown for 1,924 yards and tossed 11 touchdowns, but has only thrown 1 interceptions and that came in his first game of the year. If you add in the 411 rushing yards he has and 7 rushing touchdowns, Book has become a complete quarterback.

The NFL is always looking for playmakers and Book could be the next big thing.

NFL Draft Diamonds Scouting Notes

Ian Book is a versatile player that is very similar to Taysom Hill of the Saints. Yes, I just compared him to Taysom Hill because he is a weapon on the ground. Book can kill you with his feet. He has 1,763 career rushing yards and 15 rushing touchdowns. That does not include his 8,042 career passing yards and 68 career passing touchdowns. Book has been the man at Notre Dame for some time, and he will get a shot to be a playmaker at the next level. – Damond Talbot, Owner, NFL Draft Diamonds
