The Fantasy Football Friday FLEX is where we name our FLEX Play of the Week. And for Week 7 the FLEX Play of the Week is…

Friday FLEX of the Week:  Justin Jackson, RB, LA Chargers

I mentioned in my Week 5 Waiver Wire Report that if Joshua Kelley continued to struggle Justin Jackson was capable of taking over the backfield and it looks like he did just that. I was surprised to see how available Jackson was in leagues this week but I guess the Week 6 Bye was something fantasy managers didn’t want to stomach? Now, Jackson comes off a bye and draws the Jacksonville Jaguars; a defense that just let up 3 TDs to Detroit RBs last week. Coach Anthony Lynn wants to be able to establish the run consistently and given the struggles of Kelley the bye week should have given them a chance to incorporate more running plays and schemes that fit his style.

The Jaguars are giving up 143.8 rushing yards per game and have allowed 8 TDs rushing. Justin Jackson had 20 touches in Week 5 (15 carries and 5 receptions) against the Saints resulting in 94 yards. That is a good day in a PPR format. The Jaguars have also allowed 36 receptions to RBs this season for 255 yards and 2TDs.

The Jaguars have given up solid days at the office to D’Andre Swift (14 carries for 116 yards and 2 TDs, 3 catches for 7 yards), Adrian Peterson (15 carries for 40 yards and 1 TD, 1 catch for 18 yards), Joe Mixon (25 carries for 151 yards and 2 TDs, 6 catches for 30 yards and 1 TD) and David Johnson (17 carries for 97 yards and 2 catches for 7 yards). Jackson will function as the lead back until Austin Ekeler is ready to return and with the performance of Kelley declining steadily we should count on Jackson being used heavily.

Production Prediction: 15 carries for 74 yards and 1 TD, 3 catches for 37 yards
