This past weekend, I was sitting in my house watching college football and because I live in a little town called Leesburg, Florida I am blessed with the SEC on Saturday’s. Since I live in Gator country, I figured I would watch the game between Ole Miss and the Florida Gators because there are some pretty intriguing prospects on both teams. As I was watching the game there was a kid wearing #61 that was a beast.
I watched the entire game, and I was blown away with this kid’s ability to beat the defender in front of him. Well that kid is named Brett Heggie. As I began watching the game more, I noticed that the entire Florida offensive line is pretty impressive. Many wanted to talk about Stone Forsythe, but Heggie looked like an All-American himself.
So I went back and started digging into Heggie and guess what I found out? He is from Mount Dora, Florida. That is like 10 minutes from where I stay. How about that? A local, local kid! I knew I had to write something up on him after that.
So I went back to evaluate film and I pulled up a game from last year around this time. So I pulled up the Tennessee Vols game from 2019, and you know what I found out? In his 11th career start for the Gators at this point of his career, he graded out a 95 percent on the offensive line. The Florida Gators dominated the Vols for 441 total yards of offense.
Heggie ended up winning SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week that game. Heggie will start his 23 career game this week, but he is a prospect you better keep an eye on. He is mean, and I love his game. The 6050 offensive lineman from right down the road may kick inside at the next level, but let me tell you something, this kid is going to be a good player in the NFL.
Heggie is experienced, and a mauler. Two things you have to love about an offensive lineman. Having 22 career starts under your belt is impressive especially when you are facing SEC football players. Heggie was named Offensive Lineman of the Week this week again! So two years in a row in late September Heggie played one of his best games. I am a huge fan of his, and I feel he will be a solid player at the next level. How about it! MOUNT DORA, STAND UP!!! – Damond Talbot, Owner, NFL Draft Diamonds
