Could the Eagles replace Carson Wentz with NDSU QB Trey Lance?

Trey Lance and Carson Wentz
Could Former North Dakota State quarterback Carson Wentz end up getting replaced by Trey Lance? That would be a wild situation in Philly.

Former North Dakota State University gunslinger Carson Wentz has had a very tough year in 2020. I mean it was so bad that yesterday in his game at home versus the Los Angeles Rams in front of no fans, the broadcast actually had fake fans booing him.

The Eagles quarterback was struggling in Philadelphia’s home game against the Rams. After a failed third-down throw, “fans” could be heard booing their quarterback.

Wentz was also booed again in the third quarter when he threw an interception in the end zone. Fox Sports may have just been having fun with their broadcast, but Wentz was booed a second time. Twitter was also not taking an easy on the former second overall pick.

I mean, the Eagles have tons of pieces in place right now and Wentz is not giving his team the boost they hoped for when drafting him.

Remember it was not Wentz that led the Eagles to the Super Bowl and won, that was Nick Foles. Wentz has been okay for the Birds, but has also struggled at times. He gained some weight in the off-season hoping it would put him over the top, but he has looked really bad in his first two starts.

It is not fair that he is running for his life either. It seems like week in and week out the Eagles offensive line becomes more suspect. I mean, yesterday they lost another offensive lineman to injury. The Eagles finally had a little help from Miles Sanders, but Boston Scott has been invisible.

Is Jalen Hurts the answer in Philly?

I mean yesterday, Jalen Hurts was the back-up to Wentz. Hurts played three snaps as a decoy, but he could get more reps come next week. Wentz is not looking good and if they go down early to start next week, I would not be shocked to see if they switch to Hurts.

So will the Eagles turn to quarterback in the draft? I mean if the Eagles move on from Carson Wentz, then they could chose Trey Lance another North Dakota State quarterback in the first round. Both Lance and Jalen Hurts are similar, but Hurts is a bit smaller.

Trey Lance is a 6-foot-4, 226-pound quarterback who started to make waves among Draft analysts following his 2019 season.

In his college career, Lance has completed 192 of 287 passes for 2,786 yards and 28 touchdowns with zero interceptions.

Lance has been able to rush 169 times for 1,100 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Could Lance be a possible replacement for Wentz? I know it is early but it could happen.
