Today, tons of players were released and I think there are five players that almost every team could add. I wanted to post the five players that I think are the best available after today’s release.
WR Jake Kumerow – Kumerow was a favorite of both Packers fans and quarterback Aaron Rodgers. A product of the Division III University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, tore it up every time he was on the field. He is a touchdown machine and I could see a team like the Patriots making a claim for him. This kid is a beast, and should be claimed.
LB Kyle Emanuel – Raiders released him today after he returned to football after retiring. Remember, Emanuel was a former draft pick of the Chargers, and when entering free agency for the first time, he decided to walk away from football. He is a solid linebacker and a beast on special teams. I would not be shocked if someone claimed him.
WR Matt Cole – A small school wide receiver that was released today by the Jaguars. I do not understand this move, and I think multiple teams will put in a claim for this kid. Cole played football for McKendree University in downstate Lebanon. Despite his college’s Division II status and out-of-the-way location, Cole was a big-time prospect in the draft last year.
DE/LB Shaquem Griffin – This is not a feel-good story, this kid has a heart. There are so many teams that could use his service. I would be shocked if the former UCF grad gets past the Bengals who have the first selection in the waiver wire.
RB Raymond Calais – A speedy back with great hands. The Buccaneers running back was cut after the team decided to add Leonard Fournette and Lesean McCoy. Calais is a player that should be on a 53 man roster. Teams are looking for running backs, and maybe a team like the Jets will come sweeping in.
WR Kristian Wilkerson – I am a huge fan of this kid. I have been scouting football for a long time and this kid graded out as one of the best wideouts I have ever watched. People are sleeping on the former SEMO standout. He was cut by the Titans, but I hope my team the Bills come in and swoop him up.
