What are the NFL scouts saying about NDSU QB Trey Lance playing just one game?

Pump the Brakes on Trey
Trey Lance will get to showcase his talents on October 3rd, but will it be enough? We asked NFL scouts what they think one game can do for Lance’s stock.

Football in 2020 is strange with how everything is going down. Trey Lance and the North Dakota State football team will play in only one game this year against Central Arkansas on October 3rd, 2020. I have been getting asked by tons of people on social media what I think about him only playing in one game, and I think it is a great question. So what I wanted to do is give my opinion on the situation then I contacted three NFL scouts and asked them the same question to see what they think.

So the question I continually am asked is, With Trey Lance playing in just one game is it a good move or a bad move?

I will go first because I think it is great he will get to have at least one game from this year. It is not much but you have to love that the team is making this happen for their star quarterback. The head coach is putting his players on the field even though their conference is opting out. He knows that he has several players that are on NFL teams radars and he wants to put them in a position that they can get at least one game. I love the idea, but I will miss seeing the Bison playing this season. Trey Lance is an NFL caliber quarterback! – Damond Talbot, Owner, NFL Draft Diamonds

I think it’s kind of exciting. Tells you a little about his personality to do something like that. Gives him a chance to leave a fresh impression on people’s mind while other guys wont’ even have the option to play this fall. Will also kind of show how he is under pressure although a very small sample size – Anonymous NFL area scout

It is a good move. He needs to play for his own development. Simply doesn’t have that many snaps/throws under his belt. – Anonymous NFL Director of College Scouting

Shoot I don’t know. I don’t think it changes much either way. One game isn’t any kind of sample size to add to last years tape. Whatever his performance is it’s not going to move the needle much either direction. – Anonymous NFL area scout

Well there you heard it first. The NFL teams seem interested to see him play and they should. Trey Lance is a talented player. Teams are interested to see what happens, and it could be one of the most watched games of the year.
