Allen Merrick is a freshman linebacker at the University of Alabama Birmingham. He was shot in Gadsen, Alabama this week, and this morning he succumbed to the injuries.
Merrick’s is the second player on the UAB roster to pass away this year. Earlier in the year, Jamari Smith, a standout athlete in football and basketball at Lee High School, drowned in a swimming accident near Auburn.
We please ask that you pray for his family. Please lift up the Merrick family. This is such a tragic incident.
Police believe Merrick was an accidental shooting. Police said the incident happened on Thursday. This is so sad.
