Morehouse College cancels their football season becoming the first school to shut down football

Michael Sims Morehouse
Michael Sims the dual-threat lefty quarterback from Morehouse College is going to be really affected by the recent news of the program shutting down football.

We finally have a school that is shutting down football. It happens to be one of the biggest and most historic HBCU colleges in the country.

Morehouse College will not have a football season this fall due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

President David A. Thomas said the school’s activities would be shut down to protect student-athletes.

“Like all of the decisions we’ve made related to COVID-19, this was a difficult one but was made with the health and well-being of our students and community in mind. It follows my intention to maintain a safe campus in hopes that our students will be able to return in August. Our Maroon Tiger teams travel to other NCAA institutions and cannot compete without breaking from social distancing guidelines still maintained by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Sporting events also invite individuals to our campus who will not be subject to the testing and monitoring that we plan to implement for our students, faculty, and staff.”

The school will honor their students scholarships, but what is going to happen now? I mean we have two of their prospects on our 2021 Small School Rankings list. With the school now shutting down with the two players declare for the Supplemental Draft?

Both Michael Sims and Santo Dunn are very solid players. We actually completed a highlight clip of Michael Sims and this is very disapointing news.

If Sims and Dunn do not declare for the Supplemental Draft, will they put their names in the transfer portal and leave? This will be interetsing to watch.
