Chiptole has suspended their manager after Colts linebacker Darius Leonard was racially profiled and kicked out of a Florence, South Carolina restaurant.

Darius Leonard is a former South Carolina State standout and one of the best new linebackers in the National Football League. He went to Instagram to post a very strong message towards Chiptole and to the world after being targeted by a store manager of the restaurant branch.

The standout linebacker says he was dining with three other black men and a mixed-race female when he was racially targeted by the store manager and asked to leave. The manager even told him he would call the police.

Toward the end of their meal, Leonard said in the video, a manager approached the group “with a terrible attitude” to ask if there was a problem. The manager said a White customer had said Leonard and his group were “verbally abusing him” and “talking trash to him.”

“It was basically a lie,” Leonard said. “We basically got kicked out of Chipotle because of that.”

“That’s what being Black in America is right now,” he added. “Us not even doing anything wrong, going out to eat with your family, just trying to spend a little bit of quality time.”

Chipotle has since suspended their manager and their CEO Brian Niccol released this statement:

“We have a zero-tolerance policy for discrimination of any kind,” Niccol said. “I’ve personally talked with Darius and I’m committed to ensuring the appropriate action is taken once the investigation concludes.”
