Alain Cimankinda is one of the best edge rushers in Canada. The DL/LB from the University of Guelph recently sat down with NFL Draft Diamonds.

What is the best restaurant in your hometown city? 

Best restaurant in my hometown would have to be one of those Shawarma Palace’s. The amount of food and gains you get for your money is amazing to me.

When breaking down your film what will stick out? 

Versatility. I can lineup anywhere on the line of scrimmage. You’ll see quickness, speed, takeoff as well as power, strength and toughness.

If you won the lotto, what is the first thing you would do with the money?

Buy my mother a nice house and car. She’s been my motivation all my life, she’s provided me with the drive to pursue my goals and sacrifice who I was for who I wanted to become.

What has been your biggest failure? 

In all honesty I haven’t had a big failures in my opinion. I have experienced unfortunate situation that God put me in to help prepare me for something or help teach me certain lessons. Since I have always came out of those failures a better person, I wouldn’t classify it as a “failure”. 

What do your teammates say is your best quality?

My work ethic & sense of command 

Who is the hardest working teammate on your team?

My fellow defensive line mate Tavius Robinson.

Have you ever had a nickname? What is it?

Yeah haha I’ve had a couple. The nickname is El Saucy.

What is your degree in, if you do not make it as a football player, what is your dream job?

I have a degree in social arts and also 5 classes away from graduating with a BA in Political Science & Sociology at the university of Guelph. And my dream job would have to be something that will allow me to continue to exercise all my passions at once. 

What is your coolest life moment? 

My coolest life moment would have to be my whole experience at New Mexico Military Institute haha.

What song would you sing at Karaoke night?

I’m not much of a singer haha. I’ll try going with a Michael Jackson song to only end up singing the rhythm haha.

If you could pick any actor to play you in a movie, who are you picking?

I think I’ll go with Jamie Foxx. His versatility, raw talent and work ethic will help him play me better than anybody else.

Who is your favorite football team? 

I don’t really have one as of now. I was a big 9ers fan but they lost me after the summer of 2015 when everybody just left all of sudden lol. So now I just cheer for teams that my favorite players play in haha

Not being happy in life

Take us through game day, How do you prepare?

I try to be a routine guy on game to make sure I don’t forget important items for either home or away games. I would wake up 2 hours before report time. I’ll shower, prepare my fit for the day along side my pre-game and during game swag. I’ll have a small breakfast 2 bananas with 2 cups of oatmeal. Once at the stadium I’ll start preparing my body with a stretch session with my strength Coach K after that contrast tub for about 20 minutes before I end with tune up treatment and taping.

Do you have any hobbies? 

Yes I have lots of hobbies. I’m a sponge when it comes to education and just knowledge overall. I have hobbies in interests that varies from physical activity to psychology/sociology and things of the sort.

If you had to compare yourself to someone in the NFL, who would that be?

For me it would have to be Aaron Donald. We are similar in statue with him being a bit heavier but similarities in the power, quickness, hand skills and work ethic.

Who has been the biggest influence on your life and explain why?

My mother and my high school coach. My mother sacrificed so much for me to be where I am today and I have always wanted to help her relax a bit by easing the burden on the financial side of things. My high school coach Jean has always supported and motivated me to pursue my dreams and work for what i desire in life.

What motivates you to work hard?
