2021 NFL Draft Prospect: Asim A.J. Rose, RB, University of Kentucky

Kentucky RB A.J. Rose
Asim A.J. Rose is one of the best running backs in the country and has big dreams of one day becoming a police officer

Asim A.J. Rose has a good heart and is one of my favorite players on and off the field in the 2021 NFL Draft. I have never met Asim but he seems like a great person. His dream job if he cannot make it is serving others as a police officer. He really would like to be an undercover cop and with everything happening right now in the world, it is pretty impressive that he still feels so strongly about pursing a dream in criminal justice.

You see to be a law enforcement officer, you have to be able to communicate but also have a heart. I think many do not realize how important communication is. As a law enforcement officer myself for 16 years, I love that Rose is still committed to joining a force if the NFL does not work out. Well, if you look at Rose as a person, he donated hundreds of toiletries to his local Ronald McDonald House as a child, and he was a Boy Scout, and even went back to be a guest speaker for the young men in Boys Scouts of America.

Rose is working on a degree in community and leadership development, and that is almost as impressive as his college football resume. Rose was a three star recruit from Cleveland, Ohio that has blossomed into a top running back in the 2021 NFL Draft.

He would come to Kentucky and redshirt his first year. As a redshirt freshman, he would play in 7 games and rush for 37 yards on just 15 attempts.

As a Sophomore, Rose joined Benny Snell Jr and have a pretty solid season playing in 13 games. Asim finished with 479 yards and five touchdowns on just 86 rushing attempts. Snell Jr. would end up getting drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers and last year, Rose took over the number 1 role for the Wildcats.

Last season, Rose was the team leader in rushing with 826 yards rushing and 6 touchdowns on 149 carries. Asim A.J. Rose has great size at 6010 and 210 pounds, and the Ohio native gets it. Overall, he is smart, has a good heart, and is a hell of a player. He reminds me quite a bit of James Conner. Both have very similar running styles.

NFL Draft Diamonds Scouting Notes:

Asim A.J. Rose has his head on his shoulders, and he is focused on his dreams. You have to love that about a player. He has already interned with the Lexington Police Department and went on ride-a-longs to see what a law enforcement officer entails. He will make a great police officer, but I think the badge will have to wait, because he has all the talent in the world to play at the next level. A.J. Rose is going to be drafted more than likely and I would not be shocked if he turns out having a solid career in the NFL, because the kid gets it. – Damond Talbot, NFL Draft Diamonds Owner
