2021 NFL Draft Prospect: Nolan Laufenberg, OG, Air Force Academy

Nolan Laufenberg Air Force
Air Force offensive lineman Nolan Laufenberg is one of my favorite offensive lineman in the entire NFL Draft.

You have to love our Armed Forces, and if you love our country and football this kid has everything you want. I was watching film of him and was blown away by his athleticism. Nolan Laufenberg maybe the most athletic offensive lineman I have watched in a long time.

What is that you are looking for in an offensive lineman, especially a guard? You need tenacity, toughness, quickness and the ability to shut down a defender. Laufenberg has all those tendencies and he has a mean streak. In high school, Nolan was a three sport athlete. YES, a THREE SPORT athlete. You do not see that often for an offensive lineman. He was a baseball player, football player and even had two years on the basketball team.

Laufenberg is also pretty bright, in high school he was a member of the National Honor Society and the German Honor Society. He really began to blow up in 2018, when he started 9 games and seven straight to end the season. He helped anchor an offensive line that led the conference and ranked fifth nationally in rushing with a 283.5 yards per game average.

That is impressive right? Well, get this last year they ranked 3rd in rushing with a 292.5 yard per game average. They don’t just run the ball either, they only gave up four sacks allowed the entire season. That is the fewest sacks allowed in the nation, ranking 1st overall in that category.

I look at offensive lineman and their ability to get up the field on run plays and this kid shocks me. He can do quite a bit and is very nimble. His footwork is sound and he is a mauler when he wants to be. Overall, I love sleepers and Nolan Laufenberg is a sleeper that won’t be for long.

Draft Diamonds Scouting Notes:

Laufenberg to me a perfect offensive lineman. Back in the day you wanted the biggest guy in the world to play offensive line, but the game has tranformed into an athletes game. Most of the players now have to be light on their feet, have to be able to get out of a stance quickly because the speed of the game continues to get faster. Laufenberg is the new style of offensive lineman NFL teams will want. Overall, he will be a very safe pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. – Damond Talbot, NFL Draft Diamonds, Owner
