Tell us about your university/college. What was your major/minor? How is campus life?
I am going into my senior year at the University of Maine, and I am a child development and family relations major. It has a good small school vibe and campus is very supportive of its athletics program, also because it’s a small campus it’s great to see your teammates on your way to class. The community is also very welcoming and supportive of the school and the football team.
What do your teammates say is your best quality?
My teammates would say that my best quality is my willingness to learn. I believe that there is no limit to the amount of knowledge that you can have as a player because you will never be in a situation you don’t know what to do and you can play at full speed at all times.
What kind of role do you see yourself in on the team? What scheme and/or position suits your skill set?
I see myself as a leader on the team. As a senior who has played all three years and started for two of them I have lots of experience. All my experience will help me show the underclassmen how to be a better player than I was. As to scheme, I believe gap scheme fits my skill set the best, and I can play any position on the line, but given my size I am more suited to play inside.
Who is the best player you have ever played against in college?
I have played against some very talented players, so it’s hard to narrow it down to just one best player. So the three best would be Bill Murray from William and Mary, Jessie Lemonier from Liberty and Legrand Toia from Weber State.
Which one of your teammates impresses you the most?
The teammate that impresses me the most would be our returning captain Deshawn Stevens. He has the ability to be a leader while also encouraging people to lead themselves. He can motivate anyone at any time and never lets a situation bring him or his teammates down. Also if you put on the film, the things he does on the field are insane.
Describe a time in your life when you were able to overcome a struggle.
A time when I overcame a struggle was in high school. I went to a school called Canada Prep, and we lived in a motel with our coaches. I had a few offers going into my senior year, but I lost them all. I had some schools express interest after the season that came to visit me but my hand was in a cast, so nothing came of it, there I was thinking I would have to go to school in Canada and give up on my dream of playing in the NCAA. But then coach Denecke came up and took a chance on me and offered me a scholarship. So overcoming an injury that almost took away my dream of playing in the NCAA was one time I was able to overcome a struggle.
If you didn’t play football, what other sport would you play?
If I didn’t find my way onto a football field, I would be playing basketball or rugby for sure. I am a huge fan of those two sports. I played a lot of basketball growing up and was my favorite sport for many years. But in high school I played one year of rugby, and I fell in love. Rugby is a big man’s dream, it makes you feel like a running back.

What is something that you are most proud of? What would you say is your biggest achievement?
Something I am most proud of is my determination. I will never give up on anything. No matter what the circumstances I am determined to make the best of it. I would say my biggest achievement is receiving my scholarship to play D1 football, playing a collegiate sport is something very few people get to do so I would say it’s a big personal achievement.
Describe one of the most memorable plays of your collegiate career.
The most memorable play of my collegiate career was against New Hampshire. It was the first game of our 2018 season. We ran a reverse but it was a trick play, so our QB handed it off to Earnest Edwards who then pitched it back to our tight end who was a former quarterback. He threw it to Jaquan Blair who absolutely Mossed the New Hampshire DB and dove into the endzone for a touchdown. It was just great execution by the entire team and it happened in front of a great crowd and everybody went crazy. It was amazing.
Do you have a favorite athlete or professional team? Is there a player that you model your game after?
My favorite professional team would be the Toronto Raptors. As a Canadian kid, it’s awesome to see a country gather behind a sports team and watch them win their first NBA title in the history of the franchise. My favorite athlete is probably Larry Fitzgerald. He is an amazing player, and does good in the community as well. I also received a Larry Fitzgerald jersey as a gift for my first jersey, so I would spend hours watching his highlights (This is just another reason he is my favorite athlete). A player that I model my game after would be Quenton Nelson, he is just a physical specimen and plays hard nosed football, and that’s what I strive to play like. Other players I model my game after are Will Hernandez and Marshal Yanda. They are players that are very physical especially in the run game.
Who is your favorite music artist? What gets you pumped before a game?
I love all types of music, so it’s hard to narrow it down to just one, but some of my favorite artists include Bob Seger, 38 special, Future, Lil Durk, Lil Wayne, Blink 182 and the Eagles just to name a few. But before a game, it has to be loud and aggressive, like Five Finger Death Punch, Rage Against The Machine or Chief Keef, just anything loud to get the blood pumping.
What is your favorite comfort food?
My favorite comfort food would be BBQ with all the fixings, ribs, brisket, pulled pork, burnt ends you name it. With a side of mac n cheese and baked beans with warm corn bread and honey drizzled on top with some collard greens, you have a plate of that waiting for me, me and you will be great friends.
Do you have a favorite movie or actor?
My favorite actor is probably Will Ferrell. I just love his humor and he plays his role well. My favourite movie would be Step brothers, or Angels and Demons.
What do you do in your spare time? Do you have any hobbies? Do you have any secret talents?
In my freetime I love to cook. I like to do all my own cooking so I know what I am eating. My favourite food to cook is probably ribs or pulled pork on the smoker. I also don’t know how much of a secret talent it is anymore but I am a good basketball player, and I am known to throw down some dunks every once in a while if the people want to see it.
Who or what motivates you the most?
My family is what motivates me the most, especially my sister. My sister has a disability, and she motivates me everyday just seeing how awesome she is. My family is also very supportive of everything I do, so I am motivated to do as well as I can to show them that all their support was for a good cause. They have sacrificed many hours driving me to practices and games and lifts, so all their support motivates me to give back to them once I am done playing. I am also self motivated to be the best player when I step on the Field.
