The world is in a strange place right now while we are all adjusting to life during the COVID-19 pandemic. What have you done during this time to keep busy and stay football-ready?

Well, during this time I’ve been training daily as best I can. I train at my old high school with a former teammate of mine. I also watch about 30 minutes a day of film just to keep my mind in the game.

Speaking of film, what are some things you look for from an opposing offense to help you gain a competitive advantage?

As a defense, we try to key in on an offenses tendencies to run or pass. Specifically, our D-Line coaches and D-linemen-Linemen try to see if the O-Lineman’s stances change between run and pass. This allows us to know what’s going on a fair majority of the time. We do have film sessions together from time to time during this unusual situation.

Once things are back to “normal,” what is the first thing you want to get back to doing?

I honestly would just love to get back to school and finish off my Senior season with my awesome teammates, a lot of whom I consider friends off the field.

What’s the best lesson any coach ever taught you?

The best lesson I’ve ever got from a coach is that everything matters. Even when no one is watching you have to work and earn anything. That goes from football to every area of life. You have to treat every aspect of life with respect. Do your best and move forward.

Were you able to catch the ESPN docuseries The Last Dance?

Actually, not really. I did watch the first two episodes, but I really try to not over-consume sports right now because I don’t want that to be the only thing I’m taking in. I watch a variety of different TV shows and movies that are sometimes informative and sometimes just pure entertainment.

What are your top-five movies ever?

  1. Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith.
  2. The Dark Knight.
  3. The Dark Knight Rises.
  4. Blade Runner.
  5. The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.

How would you describe your skill-set?

I think that I can say my skill-set is versatile. I truly believe there isn’t anything I cannot do as a defensive player. I can cover zone or man, rush the passer, and play physical football in the run game.

Is there a current or former NFL player that you model your game after?

Shaq Barrett. I think that his overall football IQ is awesome and he uses technique over anything else to win.

Do you have a go-to move in your pass-rush arsenal?

My favorite is the dip move. It’s where you get low and get under the O-Lineman and avoid his hands. It makes it easy to win the rush.

Who is the toughest player you’ve competed against during your collegiate career?

The one player I think is the toughest I’ve played against is Sam Houston’s starting QB Eric Schmid. Also, there are very good offensive lines at Nicholls State, UIW, and Lamar.

Who is the best player in the NFL today?

Deshaun Watson.

If your life was a book, what would the title be?

“Determination.”

Let’s take a trip back to your freshman year of High School. What advice would you give yourself then, knowing what you know now?

Always put Christ first in everything you do.

If I’m in Abilene on a Saturday night, where is the one place I have to eat?

Well, I think Sharky’s is the best place to go to. They have burritos and chips with a spicy ranch that is delicious.

Give me your pitch to an NFL GM. Why will Kameron Hill be an asset to their organization?

I think that I am a complete package type of player that checks off all the boxes on and off the field. I love God, my family, friends, and football. My internal desire to honor God and to honor my family and friends is very powerful. I truly believe those facts propel me to improving and becoming a better football player every day.
