Super Bowl Predictions: Chiefs win BIG over Niners

Today it is going down and while I am excited to watch the game, I am really excited to watch the top offense go up against the top defense.

We all have heard that defense wins Championships, and while I feel that is usually the safe pick, I am picking the Chiefs to win big in Miami.

I wanted to give a break down of what I thought would happen for the game, and you can all pick on me when the game is over if I am wrong.

San Francisco 49ers v. Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs come out and get the ball first. The Niners defense comes to play, after stopping the Chiefs running game and a drop the Chiefs have to punt, and this is where it gets interesting. Richie James the former Middle Tennessee State wide out returns a punt for a touchdown becoming the first player ever in the Super Bowl to return a punt return for a touchdown. The Niners take the early lead and the fans are going bananas.

The Chiefs are able to get a long field goal with about 5 minutes left in the first quarter, but the Niners come back out and Raheem Mostert rips a run for 43 and scores piling up another 7 on the Niners, and that is how the quarter ends.

First Quarter: San Francisco 14 – Kansas City Chiefs 3

The Niners end up recovering a fumble after a bad exchange from Mahomes to Hardman on a run play but the Chiefs defense steps up. They hold the Niners to a field goal.

On the next kickoff, Hardman makes a play. He returns it out to the 50 yard line and the it swings the crowd again. Mahomes hits four passes in a row to Hill, Watkins, Williams and Kelce and the Chiefs score. Kelce scores on a 7 yard play. The Chiefs are able to get it going, and with 4 minutes left in the half, Jimmy G tries to throw a pass to George Kittle in the middle of the field and it bounces off his hands, and into Tyrann Mathieu’s hands who returns it down to the 9 yard line. The Chiefs and Mahomes try multiple times but the Niners defense shuts them down. On fourth down the Chiefs go for it and Richard Sherman is called for a defensive pass interference. The Chiefs have the ball on the one yard line first and goal with 40 seconds left and 2 timeouts. They give the ball twice to Shady McCoy who punches it in on the second run. The quarter ends and it is tied 17-17.

Second Quarter: San Francisco 49ers 17 – Kansas City Chiefs 17

The Niners cannot get anything going on offense. They come out and struggle. They turned the ball over after a fumble from Tevin Coleman, giving the Chiefs amazing field position. The Chiefs could not score though and settled for a field goal. On the next kick off, Richie James did it again, and almost took it to the house. He returned it 64 yards before getting tripped up by Daniel Sorenson. The Niners would finally get some points with just a couple minutes left in the quarter. The Chiefs would kick it off to the Chiefs, and Patrick Mahomes went down the field going after Richard Sherman and beat him up. Tyreek Hill gets away and burns Sherman for 33 yard touchdown, which would end the quarter.

Third Quarter: San Francisco 49ers 20 – Kansas City Chiefs 27

Patrick Mahomes has a seven point lead going into the final quarter and he does not stop. Eric Bienemy calls a bomb on first down after the Chiefs stopped the Niners and Mahomes connected. Sammy Watkins takes it in from 61 yards away and the Chiefs go up 14. The Chiefs defense begins to bite. Chris Jones racks up a sack and forced fumble on third down but the Niners center was able to recover the ball. The 49ers went for a field goal and hit, but were still down. The Chiefs would end up going 3 and out on their next drive, but Jimmy G just cannot get things going. Kittle catches a nice ball and on the next play going deep to Emmanuel Sanders, Jimmy overthrows him and Breeland picks it off running it down the sidelines setting them up in Field Goal Range. The Chiefs would hit the field goal and stop the Niners from scoring. That is the game. Patrick Mahomes is the MVP and the Chiefs win the big show.

FINAL : San Francisco 49ers 23 – Kansas City Chiefs 37

Final Stats: Patrick Mahomes 26-34, 339 yards, 3 touchdowns and 23 yards on the ground. Mahomes becomes the 2nd youngest quarterback to win the Super Bowl behind Ben Roethlisberger.
