Four teams that need to call the Dolphins for Minkah Fitzpatrick

Former first-round pick Minkah Fitzpatrick has received permission from the Miami Dolphins to seek a trade, according to ESPN.

Joel Segal, the agent for the defensive back, has been in contact with a number of teams, per the report. Fitzpatrick, the 11th overall pick in the 2018 draft, is unhappy with playing multiple positions, and he should be upset because he is talented. The Dolphins reportedly want a first round pick, and I do not see that happening. Fitzpatrick can play safety and cornerback but would rather play corner.

So I wanted to look at a few trade scenarios to see what the Dolphins could land for him.

Los Angeles Chargers – Yep, Melvin Gordon for Minkah Fitzpatrick and Kenyan Drake. I know Dolphins fans want a draft pick but right now is the best time to get a veteran running back and Front load his contract. Melvin Gordon is a good running back and by front loading his contract the Dolphins will be able to land a top tier RB for the future. Next year, the Dolphins have multiple first round draft picks the next couple years. This allows them to key players and save on cap.

Denver Broncos – this move to me just makes sense. The Broncos secondary is atrocious. I feel with teaming Chris Harris in Minkah Fitzpatrick together the Broncos will solidify their secondary. The Broncos have draft picks in makes sense to trade a second or even third to try to land Fitzpatrick at this point.

Atlanta Falcons – I feel they are a secondary away from winning. They can get after the QB, But struggle in the secondary. I know they had injuries with guys like Keanu Neal, But Fitzpatrick would come right in and start day one. Fitzpatrick, Oliver, Kazee, and Trufant would be a nice secondary for the Falcons that’s all they’re lacking. I could see the Falcons giving up a 2nd to land Minkah.

Kansas City Chiefs– The Chiefs have a high-powered offense and probably are one of the best teams in the NFL. Their biggest weakness though is definitely their secondary. Minkah Fitzpatrick would be a huge upgrade in their secondary and he is an upgrade at cornerback. I could see the Chiefs giving up the most to land the former first round draft pick. The Chiefs want to win it all, and to win it all you have to go and get the key pieces and pay for them. I could see Andy Reid going in doing this, and a couple draft picks like a 5th this year and a second in 2021 makes sense.
