Diamond Talk: Camron Young, DB, Fort Valley State University | A DB not afraid to tackle

Fort Valley State defensive back Camron Young is a fun player to watch. He has everything you want in a safety (speed, power and jumping ability).

Camron Young is one of my deep sleepers in the 2020 NFL Draft. The Eastman, Georgia native is one of the Wildcats best defensive player. Last season, Young was picked as an All-SIAC first team player. This was the second year in a row he made the list.

He led FVSU and ranked fourth in the SIAC in tackles at 8.5 per game. Young totaled 85 stops in 10 games, including 54 solo tackles. He added 2.5 tackles for loss of six yards, forced a fumble, recovered a fumble, broke up two passes and blocked a kick.

The strong safety had his top tackle day with 20 tackles, 14 solos, against regionally-ranked Lenoir Rhyne and added 14 tackles versus Tuskegee. Young had seven of FVSU’s 10 games with at least seven tackles.

The thing that I love the most about Camron is he is a track guy too. Last year at the Paine Lion Invitational on March 10th, Young ran an 11.56 100 yard dash He also added a 6.57m Long Jump. He is an athlete that can jump as well as run. He is not afraid of contact, and you have to love his consistency in the secondary.

I love sleepers and if you remember we were the ones that found another Fort Valley State superstar in Marquette King. Next up is Camron Young!
