Diamond Talk: A.J. Hines, RB, Duquesne | Call Him “Your HINEST”

A.J. Hines is one of the top FCS running backs and people need to put some respect on his name.

A.J. Hines enters Senior campaign in 2019 ranked first among active players with 3,849 career rushing yards and 38 rushing touchdowns. He has recorded 20, YES TWENTY, 100 yard-rushing performances in 3 seasons. He ranks second in Duquesne history in rushing.

Hines is a player all NFL teams are aware of, because he is a dawg on the field. The 5’11, 230 pound back from Wilson, North Carolina has everything you want in a running back. Hines has the speed to break away, he has the power to truck you and he has the hands to catch a pass out the backfield.

It all started at Fike High School where he was a First Team All-State honoree, rushing fro 2,138 yards with 33 touchdowns in his final two seasons. In high school he was a three time All-Big East Conference and Wilson Times All-Area Selection.

He has been dominating the FCS since his Freshman year, when he rushed for 1,291 yards and 13 touchdowns. He earned the NEC Rookie of the Week 10 times which is a record, and became the first Freshman in Duquesne history to top 1000 yards in his first year.

As a Sophomore he finished with over 1000 yards again and scored 10 touchdowns. He also hauled in 14 receptions for 108 yards and ranked second in the NEC averaging 115.3 rushing yards.

Last year, Hines was named NEC Offensive Player of the Year, becoming the second player in Duquesne history to earn the award (Tommy Stuart, 2017). Hines finished 3rd in the FCS with 1,520 rushing yards and tallied 15 touchdowns. Hines is dominating the FCS and I expect him to have a huge senior season.

NFL teams are aware of Mr. Hines, and we all believe he has a new nickname. For dominating the FCS the way he has, his nickname should be Your Hinest!
