Small School linebacker dies in kayaking accident three weeks after graduating

Former University of Cumberlands LB Zach Abner died from injuries sustained from a kayaking accident in Kentucky. (Photo from the Abner family)

Former University of Cumberlands player Zach Abner died on Sunday at the University of Kentucky Medical Center after a kayaking accident on Rockcastle River.

Abner just graduated from Cumberlands three weeks ago. He played football for the team. The 6000 linebacker from North Laurel High School was quite the player in high school.

Abner graduated from North Laurel in 2014 and just graduated a couple weeks ago with a degree in Criminal Justice hoping to become a Kentucky State Police Trooper.

Please keep the Abner family in your prayers.  This is such a hard sad day. Rest in Peace Zach.
