AAF Attendance: Memphis fans wanted Johnny Football bad, and they set a record for Express attendance

Johnny Manziel put more butts in seats than Memphis could do before. Memphis set the record for most fans in attendance tonight against Birmingham!

Johnny Manziel brought fire to the Memphis Express. The fans are sick of losing and tonight they showed it. In the second quarter Johnny Manziel came into the game and ran two big runs then hit a deep pass to get the Express in field goal range. The kicker missed it, but the team was driving down the field.

With a minute left in the first half the Memphis offense received the ball inside the fifty yard line, and Johnny Manziel didn’t come on the field. Instead the team allowed Brandon Silvers come back on the field and boy did he get booed. The Memphis team did not get any points before the half and the fans were upset.

With 3:50 left in the 3rd, Terrell Bonds returned a block punt for a touchdown. Manziel came in and missed on a two point conversion to cut the lead down to 5.

Memphis stopped Birmingham again and Reece Horn the former Italy standout returned a punt for 30 plus yards. It was a monster return and Manziel came back into the game starting at the fifty with 1:30 remaining in the 3rd.

Manziel had droves of fans pouring into the game and they finished with 13,758 in attendance. That is a record for Memphis, and we will see if Johnny Football can lead his Express back to get a win!!!

Update: Birmingham scored a touchdown with Luis Perez hitting Wes Saxton in the endzone to extend the lead. They failed their two-point conversion and the score is now 25-14 with 9:01 left in the fourth quarter.

Brandon Silvers came back into the game and he hit Reece Horn on two consecutive plays for big gains. Memphis wound up with a field goal. Memphis is now down 8 with 4:16 remaining.
