NFL Prospect Analysis: Mike Gesicki, TE, Penn St.
Mike Gesicki will definitely need some improvement in the blocking phase of his game, but he can absolutely get the job done as a pass-catcher. He is extremely long and uses his patent athleticism to create separation and work the seam when he gets in his routes. Standing at 6’ 5”, he does such a great job of going up and attacking the ball at its highest point making it so difficult to cover him. As he was in college, I expect him to be a huge threat in the red zone. The number of teams that target him in the draft could be limited simply because of his issues as a blocker, but his upside as a tremendous pass catcher could have him selected in the second round. His exceptional ball skills and a tremendous vertical leap of 41.5 inches is what makes Gesicki the top tight end prospect of this class.
