Jay Gruden says he is not focused on Kirk Cousins contract, just growth
Jay Gruden is a very solid coach for the Redskins. He has brought hope to the Redskins organization and let’s face it he has Kirk Cousins playing great football. The Redskins lost their OC, but they are still in good shape. Before Ryan Kerrigan’s Leukemia Golf Classic, media asked Jay Gruden about his quarterback situation and he was very upfront about it.
“My approach, really: I’m not gonna be concerned about it,” Gruden said “I know he’s gonna be here this season, and that’s all I care about.”
“Whatever happens, happens with him and his agent and our organization,” Gruden said of Cousins. As head coach, his focus is on helping Cousins continue to elevate his play in his third season as an NFL starter.
“He has got two good years under his belt in our system, and I think it’s gonna be very good for him. You’re gonna see major growth from him again.”
If you are a player for the Redskins organization you have to love that answer. Gruden understands he cannot do anything to change the matter. So he is focused on what he can control. I know Jay wants Cousins to blow up this year, because he will then pound the table for his gunslinger.
