Just how fast is Usain Bolt? Ask Jahvid Best the former Detroit Lions running back who went to the Olympics and ran today against the Jamaican speedster.
The former Cal and NFL running back Jahvid Best made the Olympics as a runner for Saint Lucia in the 100m sprint. Best had his qualifying run in Rio on Saturday, sprinting from Lane 8 in the event’s seventh heat.
Best happened to be two lanes away from Jamaica’s Usain Bolt, the fastest man on the planet. While Bolt finished his 100 meters in a heat-best 10.07 seconds, Best finished his in 10.39, just 0.32 seconds behind the world’s greatest sprinter.
Best was a fast back at Cal as well, so this is not surprising. I would not be shocked if he makes his way to the Olympics once again for the 2021 Olympics.
Former Lions RB Jahvid Best competed in the 100m this morning in Rio. He finished seventh in his heat in 10.39 seconds and won’t advance. The guy who won his heat? Usain Bolt. Pretty remarkable achievement for Best, though, to make the Rio Games.
