Cowboys owner believes the offense will return to 2014 form

Ezekiel Elliott is a stud, but can he break this bad streak?

Last year the Dallas Cowboys were hit by the injury bug, and their running game was suspect without DeMarco Murray, but this year the team is excited to see what Ezekiel Elliott and company can do.  According to their owner Jerry Jones, the team believes they will return to 2014 form.

“Well I don’t want to go as far as to make those comparisons, because they’ve done it and they’ve done it consistently,” Jones said of Aikman, Smith and Irvin during a Monday appearance on NFL Network, as transcribed by CBS Sports. “Certainly that group did have a great year two years ago — that you mention that we have, including [DeMarco] Murray. I think we compensated for that, although we think Murray is still a great player. On the other hand, I think our offensive line has gotten better. And they’ve done that with experience, plus we’ve even added more talent to the offensive line.

“I think we’ve got a chance to be a better offensive team than we’ve been in several years. Whether it approaches Aikman, Emmitt and Michael Irvin and that group or not, we’ll see.”

If the Cowboys can somehow get through their defensive suspensions, I would not be surprised to see them make the playoffs in 2016.
