Today the Pittsburgh Steelers waived CB Isaiah Frey according to Mark Kaboly. Frey was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the sixth round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He played college football for Nevada. He has also played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
In a corresponding move the team signed cornerback Donald Washington. Washington recently played for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League. He played college football for the Ohio State Buckeyes and was drafted in the fourth round of the 2009 NFL Draft by the Chiefs.
Tons of players are getting a shot from the Canadian Football League. Washington makes the 17th player signed to a contract from the CFL this year.
Frey was the Steelers’ second-most experienced corner on the roster, having played over 700 career snaps.
The players signed to contracts include: G Donald Washington, RB Brandon Brown-Dukes, RB Cameron Stingily, and WR Marcus Tucker.
The Steelers also waived RB Christian Powell, RB Rajion Neal, WR Tobais Palmer and CB Isaiah Frey on Monday, per Ed Bouchette.
