Eagles are interviewing Jim Schwartz today to be their next defensive coordinator
The Philadelphia Eagles may be running the wide 9 defense sooner rather than later. According to multiple reports, Jim Schwartz arrived in Philadelphia on Monday and is expected to interview with the Eagles for their defensive coordinator job today.
The Eagles officially announced Doug Pederson as their new head coach on Monday, which many knew was the move going forward, but Pederson could not sign until his Chiefs team was out the playoffs.
Schwartz would be a notable addition to offensive-minded Pederson’s staff and one of the most important hires the first-time coach could make. He has vast experience as a defensive coordinator to go along with his five years as Lions head coach. His defense in Buffalo two seasons ago was nasty, giving them a team him 55 sacks leading the NFL. Schwartz has worked with Kiko Alonso already so it is good that someone on the defense understands the wide 9 system.
