Browns need to be calling the Redskins to try to pry away RG3

RG3 to the Browns?

The Cleveland Browns have supposedly offered a first round pick for Sam Bradford, but they need to be calling the Redskins and offering a 2nd round pick for Robert Griffin III.

While many people might cringe at this idea, I want to know your honest opinions…..

Do you think RG3 could lead the Browns to a better record than Josh McCown or Johnny Manziel?

Okay, now that we are on the same page, let me explain this.  The Redskins are not happy with RG3, and we already know they are willing to move on from him.  They could pick up a second round pick for a player who they are not going to pick up the fifth year option on anyway.  The Browns can re-work RG3’s contract and get a good young quarterback, who in his rookie year threw 20 touchdowns.

While RG3 has been injured in the past, the Browns have a much better offensive line than the Redskins. They just need help at the wide receiver position. The Browns upgraded their wide receiving corps this year when they signed Brian Hartline to replace Miles Austin, and they still have Josh Gordon (suspended), Dwayne Bowe and Andrew Hawkins. The Browns were also able to land Rob Housler who can stay healthy. All they need is a deep or big wide receiver, so let’s look at the draft where they have two first round picks.

In the first round they pick 12th overall, and 19th overall.  So this is simple, they need to draft the best player available at their need.  Mike Pettine is an defensive minded coach, so he will want to get a guy that can make an impact, and he will find it with the 12th pick.

12th pick: Danny Shelton, NT, Washington – The Browns were horrible at stopping the run last year, and Shelton will fix that problem. If the Browns put Phil Taylor and Danny Shelton next to one another, that would be almost 700 pounds of meat in the middle of the field.  Now you add in Paul Kruger and Armonty Bryant on the edge and run a Hybrid 4-3, the Browns will be viscous.  Last year, I had the Browns selecting Odell Beckham Jr., and Anthony Barr, I was laughed at by many but I bet the Browns had us in the front office last  year.

19th pick: Dorial Green-Beckham, WR, Oklahoma – I know many are looking at his red flags, but you cannot do that at this point. The Browns need to be all in.  If they want to win, they have to sacrifice something. This is what I do, I take DGB and let him be my big receiver.  If Josh Gordon cannot snap out of it, I have a big receiver who has the talents to be a Calvin Johnson.  If Gordon does come back and can grow up a little, the Browns now have the best receiving corps in the NFL.

The rest of the draft, Browns need to address their defense, but let’s just look at the Browns weapons on offense after this draft:

RG3, Josh McCown and Manziel

Terrence West and Isaiah Crowell

Josh Gordon, DGB, Dwayne Bowe, Hartline, Hawkins, Benjamin

Rob Housler

If that team doesn’t excite you, you are silly.  The Browns need a great draft and they can rebound from their awful draft last year.
