Justin Gilbert still don’t get it; Browns rookie takes shot back at veterans

Justin Gilbert was approached this week about the comments made by his veteran teammates, but the rookie was upset that they didn’t confront him. He felt it was wrong to go directly to the media. He said He expected Whitner to say something, because he is always just talking, Ouch…

“I can assure everyone here that I will work a lot harder in the offseason and during the season,” Gilbert said in the locker room on Friday. “That’s one promise I can make. It’s definitely sparked a flame in myself to prove a lot of people wrong.

“I’m not mad at anyone about it. I brought it upon myself. I messed up. But I can promise my teammates I’m going to make it right.”

Gilbert said he expected to hear Whitner’s comments because “he’s a guy that’s always just talking.” But he was taken aback by Dansby’s criticisms.

“I’m not a person to judge my teammates and put it out there in the media like that. If I have a problem with someone I would address them face to face. That’s all I’ll say about that,” Gilbert said.

He said the rest of the “tough love” shown by other players “may have crossed the line a little bit.”

“But at the same time, we’re all here to do the same thing and that’s win and provide for our families. Some of the things were right and some of the things could have been kept to themselves,” Gilbert said.

It sounds like Justin Gilbert still doesn’t get it. He needs to just shut up and show up. Welcome to the NFL.
