Shawne Merriman is headed to the WWE to be a wrestler?
Former NFL linebacker Shawne Merriman has signed a deal to join WWE, according to Wrestlezone.
The news was announced on the most recent episode of the “John Layfield and Michael Cole” podcast, as they announced that the former Pro Bowler will be “joining the family” and will be working at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Fla.
Merriman took part in a tryout for WWE back in October, but he was not offered a contract. There is no word on what changed between then and now, but Merriman did make a surprise appearance on the WrestleMania 30 pre-show panel this past Sunday.
The Merriman to WWE news was sort of leaked on Saturday night when WWE superstar Rey Mysterio posted the following picture to Instagram of himself with Merriman and the hashtag “future WWE star” before the Hall of Fame ceremonies.
If Merriman does wrestle for WWE expect his finishing move to be called “Lights Out”…..
