Now that the NFL Combine has officially ended there were some guys that really came in and tore it up. I had five guys that really did an amazing job. I feel they will be a steal in this draft, and they are must draft guys if I were a GM.
Taylor Lewan – The standout tackle from Michigan is a special player, he is a fast, athletically gifted player that has a mean streak. That is what you want from an NFL lineman, and I think Lewan is going to have an amazing NFL career. I believe after his week at the Combine his stock is going to be headed in the upward direction.
Terrence Brooks – The National Champion Terrence Brooks of Florida State, was able to show off his speed and ability this week at the Combine, and boy did he impress. He has always been a stand out on special teams, and in the secondary, but this week he showed he could fly. He had a stellar performance and he continues to fly up my big board.
Aaron Donald – Everyone wanted to talk about Jadeveon Clowney, but did you see the Pittsburgh defensive tackle? Let’s face it Aaron Donald is a machine, and he moved like a very well oiled machine in Indy. Donald was jumping out the gym for a guy that weighs 285 pounds. He could be asked to gain some weight, but at the end of the day this kid is going to be a future Pro-Bowler.
Mike Evans – The former Texas A&M star shined at the Combine, catching everything in his vicinity, running a faster forty than anticipated, and interviewing well. I spoke with an NFL scout who said Evans interview was very well. The scout told me Evans is a very bright kid, and when they went to the blackboard to ask him about defenses, Evans killed it. The scout said he is a true student of the game, and said he would not be surprised to see him in the Pro Bowl his rookie year.
Jerrick McKinnon – The 5-9, 209-pounder showed off blazing speed (4.41 seconds in the 40-yard dash), explosiveness (40.5″ vertical) and power (32 reps of 225 pounds). Perhaps best of all, he showed quickness and balance in the change-of-direction tests, running the three-cone drill in 6.83 seconds and the short-shuttle in 4.12 seconds.
