Buccaneers were calling about the Patriots back-up guard but landed Mankins
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers originally called the New England Patriots looking to trade for their back-up guard, but when they found out that Logan Mankins would not take a pay cut and the Patriots had interest in Timothy Wright, the team pulled the trigger.

#Bucs really 1st called about acquiring a #Patriots backup guard. Pats expressed interest in TE Tim Wright. Soon it was “How about Mankins?”Ian Rapoport @RapSheet
Why did #Patriots end up dealing Pro Bowl G Logan Mankins? They asked him to take a pay cut. He refused (as you’d expect). Became availableIan Rapoport @RapSheet
The Logan Mankins trade reminds me of #Patriots releasing Pro Bowl S Lawyer Milloy in 2003 when he wouldn’t take a pay cut. Always business.
While this is an amazing move for the Buccaneers, I feel they should finish it off and sign Richie Incognito as well. It is a very low risk/high reward signing that could ultimately pay off big time for the Buccaneers.
