Seattle Seahawks slap 2nd round tender on safety Jeron Johnson
Today the Seattle Seahawks slapped safety Jeron Johnson with a 2nd round tender offer worth 2.2 million dollars.
@MikeGarafolo: Seahawks gave S Jeron Johnson a second-round tender as a restricted free agent. Could garner interest elsewhere. Stay tuned.
Essentially, what this means is that Seattle has the right of first-refusal for any club that makes an offer on Johnson as a restricted free agent, and if the Seahawks fail to match that offer, they receive a 2nd round pick from the team that has made the higher offer. It also means that if no club is willing to give up a 2nd round pick for Johnson, which seems likely, Seattle would keep Johnson at that $2.2M salary.
